The most common leveling agents used in printing and dyeing
How to avoid uneven phenomenon is one of the important indexes of printing and dyeing process quality. The Leveling agent is used to make the dye to be evenly dyed on the dyes, without producing other defects such as color stripes, color spots and so on.
One of the effects of the leveling agent is to make the dye be absorbed slowly by the fiber, and the second is that when the dye is not uniform, the dark part of the dye will move towards the light color, and finally achieve the uniform dying. Therefore, the two most important functions of the leveling agent are the retarding and migration.
In recent years, all kinds of new type fibers are widely used in the dyeing and printing industry. At the same time, with the gradual improvement of the people’s environmental protection consciousness, all kinds of leveling agents have a new development. In this article, it mainly talk about the development of leveling agent for reactive and disperse dyes.
Leveling agent for reactive dyes
At present, reactive dyes is the largest proportion of in fiber dyeing. It can have chemical bonding with macromolecular such as cotton, wool and silk. Therefore the soaping and rubbing fastness of dyed fabric is very high. Leveling agent commonly used is non-ionic surfactant, besides, anionic leveling agent and the compound of non-ionic and anionic surfactant is often used in recent years.
Leveling agent for disperse dyes
Polyester fabric
Disperse dyes dyed polyester with good levelness and high fastness. At present, the dyeing process of polyester fiber mainly adopts disperses dyes at high temperature and high pressure. But it is difficult to dye the dark color, and it also causes environmental pollution. Therefore, in the past twenty years, polyester simulation technology and its product development is the most active research topic in the textile industry. Ultra-fine polyester fabric having fast absorption rate, appropriate leveling agent should be added to improve leveling.
The Leveling agent should have the following conditions:
(1) good retarding effect;
(2) good transfer effect;
(3) good dispersion effect, especially at high temperature (80 ~ 120 ℃) o
(4) do not affect the dyeing rate and color;
(5) good stability of hard water and heavy metal ions.
Polyester superfine fiber
Compared with the ordinary fiber, superfine fiber has a small filament number, big specific surface area and high content of amorphous region features. Superfine fiber is easy to cause uneven dyeing, therefore, choosing the appropriate leveling agent is very important.
